What do I do if I already have my own meter service providers?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

All UK business electricity meters must have the following services in place:

  • Meter Operator (MOP): Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing your electricity meter. If there’s ever an issue with the meter, the MOP is in charge of fixing it.

  • Data Collector (DC): Responsible for retrieving and validating your meter readings, then passing the data to the Data Aggregator.

  • Data Aggregator (DA): Combines all your usage data from the Data Collector and prepares it for billing, settlement, and reporting purposes within the energy industry.

When you contract a meter with us, we’re required to appoint our default service providers - unless you already have direct contracts in place with your own providers.

We’ll check this with you when you first join, so everything’s set up correctly from the start.

But, if you decide to use your own service operators (meter operator, data collector or data aggregator, or any combination of the three) after you have joined us, we’ll need a copy of those contracts as proof before we can make any changes.

If you have already shared these details with us but something doesn’t look right on your account, just let us know by emailing [email protected] - we’ll double-check and get it sorted.
