What is a meter site visit charge?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

A meter site visit charge covers the cost of work carried out at your electricity meter - such as checks, repairs, or maintenance. Additionally, this also covers when a meter read is needed in certain scenarios, such as, when your meter is in a ‘no-signal’ area or if there is a temporary fault with your meter.

This charge comes from an external meter operator and data collector who carries out the work. We pass it through to you when they bill us. A standard meter read typically costs around £29 excluding VAT, but there can be further bespoke services that might include installing a new meter or repairing it.

These aren’t regular fees and they will only appear on your invoice when a visit happens.
