The energy industry is changing how it measures and settles electricity use. The programme is called Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement, MHHS. Ofgem mandated it; Elexon runs it. Every supplier, meter and site in Great Britain moves across by 2027.
MHHS settles the whole market on half-hourly data: 48 periods a day, per site. Settlement also gets faster: today it takes up to 14 months to finalise a period; under MHHS, four.
MHHS doesn't affect your supply with tem
The switch happens in the background. We handle the migration directly with your appointed metering agents. Your contract and electricity supply aren't interrupted.
All tem customers already run half-hourly meters, so most migrations happen remotely. If a site visit is needed, we'll tell you in advance.
What's changing
1. Your MPAN gains a digit
Your MPAN identifies your supply point. The top line goes from 21 digits to 22, to make room for new market and MHHS indicators. The 13-digit core stays the same: that's what you quote to us, a broker, or a new supplier.
2. Your meter agents' roles change
Three agents become two:
Today | Under MHHS |
Meter Operator (MOP) | Metering Service (MS) |
Data Collector (DC) | Data Service (DS) |
Data Aggregator (DA) | Absorbed into Elexon's central systems |
Where tem appoints your agents, Stark covers both new roles. Stark is authorised to operate under MHHS and is already migrating our sites.
What you need to do
If tem appointed your meter services: nothing. We handle the migration directly. If a meter's faulty, or we can't collect your data remotely, we'll arrange a visit or coordinate with your current Meter Operator first.
If you hold your own direct MOP, DC or DA contracts: check with your agents whether MHHS affects your pricing. Want tem's default agents instead? Get in touch and we'll arrange it.
