What is the difference between estimates vs actuals data?

Updated over 2 months ago

Actual data is sent from your meter when it’s able to send readings as normal. This reflects your site’s real energy usage or generation.

Estimated data is used across the energy industry when a meter can’t send actual readings. These estimates are generated using industry databases and standard calculations that predict what your site is likely to use or generate based on historical patterns.

This can happen if there’s a physical fault with the meter, a temporary communications issue, or if the meter is in a location with poor signal.

Using estimated data helps keep invoicing and payments up to date while the issue is resolved.

As soon as actual readings are available again, we’ll update your account to reflect the real data. Where this means we need to adjust your charges for a previous month, we’ll release new bills or credit notes automatically, and include the change in your next payment collection. There’s no need for you to do anything.
