Why is the forecast payment 50%?

Since July 2026, tem pays half your forecasted generation for any month where 50% or more of your half-hourly readings are missing. Once your real data arrives, we recalculate and settle the difference, in either direction.

Forecast payments run for up to 3 months, capped at £250,000 a month. If the data's still missing after that, we reclaim the payments one month at a time, never all at once:

  • Month 4: month 1's payment is reclaimed

  • Month 5: month 2's payment is reclaimed

  • Month 6: month 3's payment is reclaimed

Paying half up front, then reclaiming gradually, keeps the adjustment manageable for both of us, in either direction.
